Sexual Trauma
Are you dealing with destructive behaviors, emotional outbursts, or chaotic relationships? Do you have poor concentration or find yourself reaching for substances to cope? Have you found yourself with physical symptoms that you just can’t seem to explain? You may be experiencing symptoms of complex post traumatic stress disorder (CPTSD) as a result from sexual trauma. People of all genders, ages, and ethnicities are affected by the devastating impacts of sexual trauma. One in three girls will experience sexual abuse or sexual assault and one in five boys will follow suite before the age of 18. This means, we as a mental health field have a devastated population that needs us all the more for a path towards healing.
The major issue I see in my line of practice with this population is a loss of “self” and the internal shame we place on ourselves after experiencing something so heart breaking. The effects of sexual assault can destroy our sense of who we are and completely disrupt our core values internally. Do find yourself asking, “do I even know who I am?”. I am here to tell you, you are loved and worthy of love and deserve to heal.
As a trauma informed therapist, it is my mission to see every client healed and restored after experiencing a devastating traumatic experience whether it be sexual abuse, human trafficking, or sexual assault by the power of counseling.
